Trois Filles”

Brenau University Composition 1 Showcase

This trio was a collaborative effort with Annabelle Brown and Claire Wright. It was comprised of gestural prompting in which shapes were creating and put together as consecutive movement. We used ethereal and slow movements throughout the entire piece to reflect the music and to have a peaceful yet eerie feeling to the work.

“Quelle est ta Origine?”

Florida State University’s Dance in Paris Study Abroad

We wanted to explore the question "What is your origin?" which we noticed was the question we got asked as opposed to "where are you from?" I was asked this and I answered with the United States because that was the only answer I could give. It was as if they absolutely needed an explanation as to why I look the way I do. We also wanted to explore the feeling of acclimating and assimilating into a new environment while feeling like an outsider and the journey towards finally feeling comfortable in where you are and like you truly belong.

“The Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Waste

Brenau University “FIN.” Senior Thesis Concert

This work is my senior thesis work inspired by the underlying message of Christopher Nolan’s film Memento and further developed into discussing what is attributed as Einsten’s Theory of Insanity. Utilizing the human idea that a situation will change if one changes the circumstances just a little bit or simply tries again. This piece was created in collaboration with the dancers and their personal connection with the motif.

“Chaotik”

Brenau University Composition 1 Showcase

This work was simply inspired by the chaotic nature of the music and reflecting that with movement in my specific vocabulary. I used grounded, sharp movements as well as moments of changing the timing dynamics to showcase the many layers in the music.

“Do I Know You?

Brenau University “Ablaze”

This work was focused on the idea of cognitively analyzing oneself and discovering an aspect that one didn’t know had the capacity to be possible for themselves. It used grounded and aggressive movements to reflects the mental chaos that might happen when in times of self-reflection and discovery.
